Convention 2020

The 102nd Annual State Convention April 25,2020.

This is how to connect to our Virtual State Convention on Saturday, April 25, 2020.

The Convention starts at 3:00 P.M. in Labrador and at 3:30 P.M. on the Island. The simplest way to connect is to be by your telephone at those appointed times.

When the phone rings and you answer it, you will hear a recorded message from Patrick Gambin, which runs for less than one (1) minute. Please listen to the message where  it tells you to "Please stay on the line and you will be AUTOMATICALLY connected. The Virtual Convention will begin shortly".

If you miss the phone call you can call in by dialing;  1-877-228-2184. Enter Event ID # 119382 and enter you PIN # which is the last five (5) digits of your Membership Number. You will also hear a message and you use this method of connecting.

A few of other points to know are that ONLY DELEGATES with proper CREDENTIALS have the RIGHT to speak the same as at an in-person convention. If you wish to speak, please hit *3 on your phone and you will be placed in line-up to speak.

Please do not mute your phone because the system automatically mutes your phone. This speeds up the process when being recognized to speak.

If for some reason you get dropped from the call, Please rejoin the call in progress by calling 1-877-228-2184 and enter event ID # 119382 and enter yourPIN # which is the last five (5) digits of your Membership Number.

Please make a special effort to be ready for you phone call  at the assigned times above and everything else should fall into place.

Convention Registration and Delegates:

Registration for and selection of delegates for the 102nd Annual State Convention seems to have dropped off since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Brothers, despite the changes to the actual Convention format, a Convention WILL be held. All councils are urged to complete Registration Forms, and to complete the selection of one or two delegates for the 102nd Annual State Convention, and to submit those forms, and names, to State Secretary Pat Gambin before April  10, 2020. Every council will be contacted to ensure that they and their delegates will be able to participate in this modified Convention. There is no Registration Fee for the 102nd Annual State Convention, so all councils that in good standing,  should be willing and able to participate. Council delegates with a little computer knowledge will have no problems participating.

Member Medical Claims:

The State Board has received a number of calls questioning whether members should be receiving and handling medical notes for medical travel at this time in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Because of this the State  Board is recommending effective immediately, that any and all Member Medical Claims be submitted electronically to the State Treasurer for payment.  Individual members should, if possible, scan their medical notes, and send them to their Grand Knights or Financial  Secretaries electronically. Grand Knights and Financial Secretaries can then submit a Member Medical Claim electronically as well, to the State Treasurer. The other alternative is for members to hold onto their medical notes, and for councils to hold onto  any Medical Claims until this crisis passes, at which time they can again resume using Regular Mail.

State Lottery 2020

The  provincial Lottery Commission  has agreed to postpone the date for the 2020 Knights of Columbus Lottery Draw from April 25, 2020  to July 11, 2020 because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The State Board has received a number of calls questioning the status of this year’s State Lottery, again in light of COVID-19. They are wondering should our Lottery Chair, Executive Members and/or individual members  be receiving and handling money and state lottery ticket stubs from members at this time.

Brothers, the State Board is now dealing with the Provincial Lottery Commission about the impact of COVID-19 on our State Lottery 2020, and we hope to have some word from the Lottery Commission in the next day or  so as to what we can do.

In the meantime, The State Board  is recommending that any member who feels uncomfortable about handling money or ticket stubs, that is receiving them, or passing them onto to their own Council Lottery Chairmen,  or to the State Lottery Chairman or State Executive Members, that those members NOT handle any money or ticket stubs.

The State Board, as I indicated, is working on resolving this question, and should have some answers shortly.

But Brothers, I, and the State Board would also urge you NOT to stop or halt your efforts to sell the State Lottery 2020 Tickets.

Social media is a great place to sell these tickets…and you don’t have to actually handle money using Facebook, or other forms of Social Media contact. Electronic banking is there to do that for you.

Site Content

Additional Information

This is a long form text area designed for your content that you can fill up with as many words as your heart desires. You can write articles, long mission statements, company policies, executive profiles, company awards/distinctions, office locations, shareholder reports, whitepapers, media mentions and other pieces of content that don’t fit into a shorter, more succinct space.

Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.

Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.

Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
